2010-01-29: Valentines for Haiti
Make your Valentine's Day dinner hassle free, yet extra special in honour of Haiti!
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and with this comes dinner dates, flowers, chocolates and gifts. Samaritan's Purse has partnered with local churches, businesses and individuals to offer a “Valentine's Dinner To Go” for men (and women) to order a hassle free, yet delicious dinner for two, including Lasagna, New York Cheesecake, handmade chocolates and a flower.
Not only is this great for Sweethearts, but for families, friends and anyone wishing to enjoy a home cooked dinner in honour of Haiti.
This can be pre-ordered with a minimum $30.00 donation to Samaritan's Purse. The meals will be prepared completely through volunteer effort and donated ingredients. 100% of the proceeds will go to Samaritan’s Purse which will be matched dollar for dollar by the Canadian government*.
Our goal is 200 dinners, which would be $6,000.00 in donations, and with government matching would become $12,000.00!
How can you get your hands on one of these?
Option A: You can place your order by going to Thornview Grocery andf filling out and leaving the Samaritan's Purse insert. If you order through Thornview Grocery, you will pick up your meal on Sunday February 14th at the Log Cabin on 1st and Thornhill between 12:00 and 1:00p.m. Donations can be made by cheque (to Samaritan’s Purse) or with a credit card.
Option B: You can place your order by filling out the Samaritan's Purse insert in your church bulletin and leaving it with your church. You will then conveniently pick up your meal on Sunday, February 14th after the morning service. Donations can be made by cheque (to Samaritan’s Purse) or with a credit card.
Order deadline is February 7th. Contact Sally Marsolais at 822-4490 for further information.

2009-05-21: What's new in the Library
Furious Longing for God by Brennan Manning Imagine a stormy day at sea, your ship yielding to a relentless wind, pummeled by crashing waves, subject to the awesome force of nature. A force that is both fierce and majestic. A power that is nothing short of furious. Such is God's intense, consuming love for His children. It's a love that knows no limits, and no boundaries. A love that will go to any lengths, and take any risks, to pursue us.
Fireproof - DVD Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. Inside burning buildings, it's his natural instinct. In the cooling embers of his marriage, it's another story. After a decade of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare. While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents' newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God's love for him? Will he be able to demonstrate love over and over again to a person that's no longer receptive to his love? Or is this just another marriage destined to go up in smoke?
